Let’s dig into what makes the Google Pixel 9 Pro special:

1. Tensor G4 Chipset

The Tensor G4 is the brain behind the Pixel 9 Pro’s impressive performance. Having used both the iPhone 15 Pro Max (with its A17 chip) and the Pixel 9 Pro, the difference is subtle but noticeable. 

The Tensor G4 handles everyday tasks, gaming, and even high-res video editing without breaking a sweat. The extra 16GB of RAM ensures no lag when switching between apps, something I appreciated during heavy multitasking.

2. Camera

If you’re into photography like me, the Google Pixel 9 Pro camera will not disappoint. The 50 MP main sensor produces sharp, vibrant images with excellent dynamic range. 

Compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 48 MP camera, the Pixel delivers more consistent shots in low light, thanks to its software-based magic like Best Take and Ultra-HDR. The 48 MP periscope telephoto lens is ideal for zoom shots, offering 5x optical zoom with no visible loss in quality.

The 42 MP ultrawide selfie camera is also impressive, capturing sharp group selfies and wide-angle shots with ease. 

I noticed the Pixel 9 Pro handled skin tones more naturally compared to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera, which often leaned toward oversaturation.

3. Battery Life and Charging

With a 4700 mAh battery, the Google Pixel 9 Pro's battery life is solid but not groundbreaking. I found it lasted a full day with moderate use, but heavy users may find themselves needing a top-up by evening. 

The 27W fast charging is adequate, though it trails behind Samsung's and OnePlus’ faster-charging technologies. 

However, reverse wireless charging is a great feature if you own wireless accessories like earbuds.

4. Display

The 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display is a treat to use, especially with its 120Hz refresh rate. It’s incredibly smooth for scrolling through social media and playing games. 

With 2000 nits HBM and 3000 nits peak brightness, I found the screen easy to read even in direct sunlight, something that both the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Pixel 9 Pro handle equally well. 

And let’s not forget the Always-on display—it’s a small feature, but one that adds convenience when checking notifications without unlocking the phone.

5. Build and Design

The Pixel 9 Pro feels sturdy in hand due to its Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and aluminum frame. It’s a bit heavier than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but that gives it a premium feel. 

Plus, it’s IP68 rated, which means it can survive a dip in water up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. The colors—Porcelain, Rose Quartz, Hazel, and Obsidian—add a nice touch of personality, depending on your taste.

6. Software and Longevity

One of the best perks of owning a Pixel is the long software support. Google promises 7 years of Android updates, meaning this phone will stay relevant far longer than most other devices. 

It ships with Android 14, and having used Android on both the Pixel and Samsung devices, I’ve found Google’s clean, bloat-free version far more appealing.
